CHICAGO THE WINDY CITY

September 7, 2011  Dateline: Chicago; IL USA

There is a reason that Chicago is known as the windy city and I am experiencing the reason first hand.  I was supposed to leave for Joliet this morning along with MY WAY but after being bounced around in my slip all night by the wind and water, I asked Rich to take a look at Lake Michigan before we left.  As usual I was right the Lake was so rough that Rich decided not to go.  MY WAY’s owner had adjusted her lines to leave but after hearing what Rich had to say they decided to stay as well

Rich and Carol along with Wayne from MY WAY jumped into a cab and went to the Museum of Science and Industry.  They spent the whole day so it must have been very interesting. I overheard Rich and Carol talking later that they had seen a model train display that included some 1,400 feet of track, been inside a real 727 airplane, seen some chickens hatch, learned about weather, got to go onto real locomotives, steered an old sailing ship, took a guided tour of an Illinois underground coal mine as well as many of other interesting exhibits.

In the evening the owners of ADENA drove up from Southern Illinois to visit MY WAY.  All the owners got together on MY WAY for what they call “happy hour” and then went off to dinner at Café Lux.

Based on the forecast of the winds, it looks like I will be sitting in Chicago for another day or two.
