PAINTED LADIES & A BOTTLE OF WINE

August 16, 2011  Dateline: Petoskey, MI USA
I sat still today, and this afternoon Rich did put another coat of wax on me.  It felt good and it makes me shine
Rich and Carol rented a car and went off with the owners of Grianan, Greg and Kate, to Harbor Springs.  Along the way they passed through Bay View.  Bay View is a town created by the United Methodist Church.  The town is full of painted ladies and it has its owned hotel, playhouse and auditorium.  It, like the towns in New Jersey, was built during the late 1800s.
The next town they went to was Harbor Springs.  The town is located across Little Traverse Bay from Petoskey.  The best way to describe the town is that it is like Palm Beach, Fl.  There is even a Hinckley Yachts office there.  The shops are all very up scale.  The water in the marina is very clear.  You can see down some 8-9 feet and it is almost like looking into an aquarium.

The old train station that once brought tourists to the town still stands and is a classic.

They then traveled north from Harbor Springs and went  to the town of Good Hart.  The road to Good Hart is called the Tunnel of Trees.  The road is less than two lanes wide and it is mostly all covered by a canopy of tree branches.  Good Hart consists of one general store.

The store had a sign on it for Studebaker wagons and buggies.  Before it made cars Studebaker built wagons and buggies.

Rich told me that at dinner they had a bottle of wine and that ended an exciting day, for them.
